Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan Foreign Ministers discuss bilateral cooperation issues
On June 8, 2022, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov met with the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov in Nur-Sultan within the framework of Third Central Asia – China Ministerial Meeting.
The ministers discussed a wide range of issues on the agenda of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
It was emphasized that thanks to the political will of the leaders of the two countries, relations between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan have risen to a qualitatively new level.
The high growth rates of bilateral trade between the countries were noted.
The main attention was paid to the implementation of agreements at the highest level, primarily on the promotion of priority projects of bilateral trade-economic, transport-communication, scientific-educational and cultural-humanitarian cooperation.
The prospects of regional cooperation and the continuation of a close and fruitful dialogue within the framework of international organizations were discussed.
In addition, the schedule, agenda and organizational aspects of upcoming events at the highest level were considered.
The Foreign Ministers confirmed their firm commitment to the course of deepening relations of strategic partnership and alliance for the benefit of the two fraternal peoples.
The conversation took place in a traditionally friendly and businesslike atmosphere.
