Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan visited the UK

 Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatilla Irgashev held separate meetings in London with the Deputy Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom for South Asia Tariq Ahmad, the Special Representative of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom for Afghanistan Andrew McCubrey, as well as the co-director of the Department of Eastern Europe and Central Asia British Foreign Office Chris Allan.

The talks considered certain aspects of the bilateral and regional agenda, including the issue of an Afghan settlement.

The British side highly appreciated the constructive role of Uzbekistan in finding solutions to resolve the situation in Afghanistan, as well as in ensuring the peaceful development in the country.

An exchange of views took place on joint efforts in the field of combating terrorism and extremism. An agreement was reached to build up regular contacts on issues of regional security and the Afghan settlement.
