Meeting with the Head of the OSCE/ODIHR Parliamentary Election Observation Mission
On September 27, 2024, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhromjon Aloyev held a meeting with the Head of the Parliamentary Election Observation Mission of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE/ODIHR) Douglas Wake.
The parties discussed organizational issues related to the participation of the ODIHR Observer Mission in the process of preparing and holding the parliamentary elections of the Republic of Uzbekistan on October 27 this year.
The Head of the OSCE/ODIHR Mission was informed about the priorities of the domestic and foreign policy of Uzbekistan, including large-scale democratic reforms carried out in the republic as part of the implementation of the Uzbekistan - 2030 Strategy. Detailed information was also provided on the role of the Foreign Ministry in holding the upcoming parliamentary elections, in particular the organization of voting for citizens of the republic abroad.
The parties confirmed their readiness to continue constructive cooperation to improve electoral legislation and practice in Uzbekistan, including taking into account the upcoming parliamentary elections in the country.
D.Wake expressed gratitude to the Uzbek side for creating all the necessary conditions for the effective operation of the Mission to observe the parliamentary elections.
