Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev met with Asia and Oceania Director of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France Bertrand Lortholary, in Paris.

The efforts of Uzbekistan and France on the peaceful settlement of the Afghan crisis and the provision of humanitarian assistance to this country were discussed at the meeting.

Mr. Bertrand Lortholary highly appreciated Uzbekistan's assistance in the evacuation of citizens of France and other member states of the European Union from Afghanistan and expressed readiness to continue active interaction with the Uzbek side in the name of strengthening peace and stability in Afghanistan.

The parties also noted the need for developing a consolidated position of the international community on the Afghan issue.

The French side supported Uzbekistan's initiative to establish an international hub in Termez under the auspices of the UN to provide humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people.

An agreement was reached to continue consultations on Afghan issues.
