Deputy Foreign Ministers of Uzbekistan and Bulgaria met in Sofia
On May 14, 2025, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Olimjon Abdullaev held a meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria Maria Anguelieva.
The parties confirmed their mutual interest in intensifying political and consular dialogue, and expressed readiness to systematically address issues of mutual concern.
An exchange of views took place on the protection of workers’ rights, particularly in relation to citizens of Uzbekistan, including from unscrupulous employers.
The Bulgarian side expressed its willingness to establish a permanent dialogue on labor migration and to consider the possibility of signing migration agreements in the near future.
The participants also shared the mutual opinion on the importance of holding the 6th session of the Uzbek-Bulgarian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.
In addition, extended-format meetings were held with Denitsa Sacheva, Chairperson of the Labor Committee of the Bulgarian Parliament, Lyubomir Yosifov, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, and Tsvetan Simeonov, President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
During the negotiations, the sides discussed issues related to labor migration, cooperation in combating illegal migration, the establishment of joint training centers, as well as trade and economic relations, investments, and joint projects.
The meetings were held in a spirit of mutual respect and constructiveness. Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation and expressed full commitment to implementing the agreements reached.
