C5+1 Meeting of the foreign ministers of Central Asia and the United States during the 79th session of the UN international community

 

On September 27, 2024 in New York (USA), under the auspices of the C5+1 regional platform, during the 79th annual session of the UN, held a meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and US Secretary of Foreign Affairs.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan emphasized the importance of efforts to expand economic interaction, support sustainable development, strengthen transport and logistics connectivity, and promote peace and prosperity in the region. Special attention is paid to joint efforts to mitigate the consequences of environmental changes.

US Secretary of State A.Blinken, expressing his commitment to the effective implementation of the agreements reached following the results of the first C5+1 Summit of Heads of State on September 19, 2023, as well as the New York Declaration, welcomed the launch of the C5+1 Dialogue on Mineral Resources; hosting the first B5+1 Forum in support of US-Central Asia business partnerships and the first C5+1 special session on disability rights.

The participants agreed on the need to further intensify and coordinate joint efforts aimed at combating terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, transnational and cybercrime, as well as countering radicalization.

In 2025, the participating countries will celebrate a decade of successful cooperation within the C5+1 Format. In this regard, the parties welcomed the desire of the countries of the region and the United States to further search for regional solutions to global problems, as well as deepen cooperation within the framework of the C5+1 diplomatic platform.
