On 1 June 2021, Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Iraq with residence in Kuwait, Bahrom Aloyev, presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Iraq, Barham Salih.

President Barham Salih expressed his gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev for appointing the first Ambassador to the country. The parties expressed confidence that this decision will contribute to enhancing and strengthening Uzbekistan – Iraq relations. The importance of intensifying political dialogue, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian cooperation was noted.
