Uzbekistan delegation attends Republic of Korea – Central Asia Cooperation Forum

On November 25, 2020, Uzbekistan delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov attended the 13th Republic of Korea – Central Asia Cooperation Forum, in Seoul.

Foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Korea discussed the priority areas for ensuring stability and sustainable development of countries in the context of the pandemic, as well as prospects for further strengthening cooperation within the framework of multilateral structures.

Uzbekistan’s FM noted the need for continuing the joint fight against coronavirus infection by forming a fair global system based on trust and close cooperation, exchanging information on improving treatment methods, and introducing new epidemiological and sanitary standards and rules. The importance of ensuring a balance between the protection of public health and life of the economy was noted.

The head of Uzbekistan delegation emphasized the urgency of enhancing cooperation on broad introduction of digital technologies in the activities of state institutions, economic sectors and other spheres of public life.

The participants also focused on the negative impact of climate change on sustainable development of Central Asian region. In this context, the environmental consequences of the drying up of the Aral Sea and mechanisms of international assistance to the population of the Aral Sea Region were analyzed.
