Uzbek President Meets with AIIB President Jin Liqun

As part of the business programme of his state visit to China, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Jin Liqun, the President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, at the Bank's headquarters.
Topical issues of the further development of strategic partnership with this leading international financial institution were considered.
Cooperation with the Bank has reached unprecedented levels in recent years. The portfolio of joint projects exceeded $3 billion. In 2023 alone, the volume of attracted investments reached $1 billion.
Important projects are being implemented in the fields of energy, water supply, reconstruction of roads and railway, and business development.
The Head of our state advocated increasing the volume of financing for projects on deep processing of strategic raw materials and implementation of socially important programmes on the principles of public-private partnership.
As part of the ongoing structural reforms in New Uzbekistan, a joint Cooperation Programme was adopted for the period up to 2026 to implement projects in priority areas.
Special attention was paid to the issues of supporting strategically important infrastructure projects in the Central Asian region.
The practical aspects of preparing and holding of the Annual Meeting of the Bank’s Board of Governors in Samarkand this September were also discussed.
