Uzbek Leader Meets with Premier of the State Council of China

 

 

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has started his state visit to the People’s Republic of China by meeting with Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Li Qiang at the National People’s Congress.

The sides discussed issues of further expansion of multifaceted practical cooperation, primarily in the trade and economic fields.

It was emphasized that thanks to the political will and joint efforts of the leaders of the two countries, the Uzbek-Chinese relations have reached an unprecedented level in all spheres and directions.

Last year, the trade turnover increased by 50% and reached $14 billion. The potential to bring this figure up to $20 billion was outlined, including through increasing mutual supplies of high-quality agricultural and industrial goods. The total volume of Chinese investment in the Uzbek economy exceeded $14 billion.

The sides discussed the preparation of separate cooperation programs in infrastructure modernization, expansion of industrial cooperation, technology transfer in agriculture and development of green energy.

The prospects of deepening practical interaction with China’s leading banking and financial institutions, as well as participation of Chinese companies in privatization processes in our country were also considered.

The parties highly assessed the outcomes of the first Uzbek-Chinese regional forum and industrial exhibition held in Urumqi on January 22.

A successful organization of the educational forum and Days of Uzbek Culture in China was noted. Both sides advocated the further expansion of flights and tourist exchanges.

In conclusion, our President invited the Premier of the State Council of China to pay a visit to Uzbekistan.
