On August 23, 2023, Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Gayrat Fozilov met with the Sub-Regional Coordinator of the International Organization for Migration for Central Asia Zeynal Hajiyev.

The parties discussed the relations between Uzbekistan and the IOM, exchanged views on improving the organization's project activities in Uzbekistan.

Gayrat Fozilov informed the Sub-Regional Coordinator about the cardinal changes taking place in Uzbekistan, in particular in the field of labor migration. It was noted that Uzbekistan attaches great importance to migration issues, both at the national and international levels.

They considered proposals for the implementation of joint projects and programs in areas of mutual interest.

The parties confirmed mutual readiness to continue close joint work on the consistent expansion and deepening of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the IOM.
