On June 12, 2023, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Gayrat Fozilov met with the UNDP Regional Office for Europe and the CIS Ivana Živković.

At the beginning of the conversation, Deputy Foreign Minister congratulated the representatives of the Program on the 30th anniversary of the UNDP’s presence in Uzbekistan and highly appreciated its projects covering various spheres.
 

Ivana Živković expressed gratitude for the close cooperation and ongoing support for the Organization’s activities in Uzbekistan.

The parties also discussed the interaction between Uzbekistan and UNDP focusing on the implementation of specific joint projects within the framework of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Development Strategy of New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026.

They paid special attention to expanding cooperation in the fields of combating climate change, protecting the environment and biodiversity, in particular in countering the negative consequences of the ecological catastrophe of the Aral Sea.
