On September 27, 2023, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev held a meeting with the Minister of State (Minister for Armed Forces) at the UK Ministry of Defence, British Minister of the Armed Forces James Heappey.

During the conversation, the sides discussed the current level of Uzbekistan-UK cooperation, as well as regional security issues, including the current the situation in Afghanistan.

Mr. Heappey highly appreciated the efforts of Uzbekistan towards developing a consolidated regional position on Afghanistan, establishing long-term peace and stability in the country, as well as providing humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people.

The British side also expressed readiness to continue close cooperation with Uzbekistan on Afghanistan.
