On August 18, 2023, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev met with the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations Miroslav Jenča.

During the conversation, the parties discussed a wide range of issues of multilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UN, in particular, in the field of strengthening regional security, including the current situation in Afghanistan.

Miroslav Jenča highly appreciated Uzbekistan's efforts to develop a consolidated regional position on Afghanistan, provide humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people.

The sides paid particular attention to the issues of enhancing the role of the UN in addressing global and regional problems, including the issue of an Afghan settlement.
