Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan B.Aloyev held a briefing at the press center of the Central Election Commission

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Dear compatriots,

In accordance with the Regulations on the Procedure for the Organization of Polling Stations at Diplomatic and Other Representations of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Foreign Countries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and all diplomatic missions and consular posts of Uzbekistan abroad are actively preparing for and holding elections for the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan ahead of schedule.

1. 56 polling stations have been opened at embassies and consulates-general of Uzbekistan in 39 foreign countries.

2. In order to facilitate the voting process for citizens abroad, a special electronic service has been set up to register them on the electoral roll (https://saylov.mfa.uz/).

Furthermore, the “Dunyo” News Agency at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has developed an interactive map of the addresses of polling stations abroad. This map is available on the Agency’s website. Over 165 thousand of our compatriots abroad have used this interactive map.

3. Early voting for the presidential election took place from June 28 to July 5 at the above-mentioned polling stations.

A total of 906 mobile polling stations were set up in cities where our diplomatic missions are not located, including in 45 foreign countries with large populations of Uzbek citizens.

A total of 50 groups of 100 experts were sent to Russia, Kazakhstan, Korea and Turkiye to facilitate early voting.

180,729 of our citizens exercised their constitutional rights during early voting.

4. More than 650 campaigns, information sessions, round tables and meetings involving compatriots, foreign mass media, foreign officials and experts were organized by diplomatic missions and consular institutions abroad to raise the awareness among our citizens overseas and the local population about this important political event, in which more than 82 thousand participants took part.

In order to ensure wide media coverage of the election process abroad, Uzbek National Broadcasting Company’s staff were sent to Russia (Moscow, St Petersburg, Vladivostok), Korea, Kazakhstan and Turkiye. They are currently broadcasting the election process in these countries.

5. In addition, more than 1,300 electoral information was disseminated through the social networks of our compatriots and diaspora organizations with a view to involving Uzbek citizens abroad in elections.

At the same time, the website of the “Dunyo” News Agency opened a page “Presidential Election – 2023” which in May and June posted more than 500 pre-election materials (articles, opinions and interviews).

More than 100 leading foreign experts’ opinions were widely covered on local TV channels, print and electronic editions.

6To date, all conditions have been created for the electoral process at 56 polling stations of the diplomatic missions and consular offices of our country in 39 foreign countries.

This event was thoroughly prepared during the pre-election campaign. The polling stations established for the presidential elections were prepared for the free expression of the will of the voters and the full exercise of their constitutional rights.

A total of 231,776 voters are expected to vote abroad, 180,729 of whom have voted in advance.

The first of the election processes abroad begins on July 9 at the diplomatic missions of our country in Japan and Korea at 4 am, Tashkent time, and the last ends at 5 am on July 10 at the diplomatic in the U.S.

The voting processes have now begun and are continuing in most countries of the world, including the countries of the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, the Russian Federation and all neighbouring countries.

We would like to inform you that our citizens are actively participating in this key political event.
