Baghdad hosted the first round of Uzbekistan-Iraq political consultations

 

Baghdad hosted the first round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Iraq.

The delegations of Uzbekistan were headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhromjon Aloev, and the Iraqi side was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Muhammad Husain Bukhrul Ulum.

The parties discussed the state and prospects for developing bilateral relations in the political, trade, economic, investment, cultural, and humanitarian spheres.

A commitment was expressed to strengthen bilateral ties, enhance political dialogue, increase trade, establish academic ties, and intensify cultural exchange.

The sides noted the importance of expanding the legal framework for cooperation.

An agreement was reached on the development of interaction between the legislative bodies of the two countries.

The parties expressed their readiness to facilitate engagements between the two countries' business circles and interest in establishing a joint Business Council.

During the consultations, the international and regional agenda was also discussed.
