Thanks to joint efforts a fundamentally new political atmosphere has been created in Central Asia

It was stressed by the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov in his adress at the United Nations General Assembly’s 77th Session in New York.

It was emphasized that the mechanism of Consultative Meetings of the Heads of State of the region, launched at the initiative of Uzbekistan, has become a vivid symbol of a new era of regional cooperation.

At the Consultative Meeting, held on July 2022, a historic Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighborliness and Cooperation for the Development of Central Asia in the 21st century was adopted.

Vladimir Norov said that the international recognition of the deepening partnership of the countries of the region is reflected in a number of resolutions adopted by the UN General Assembly in support of strengthening peace, stability, and regional cooperation in Central Asia.

Uzbekistan relies on further support from the international community for the processes of rapprochement and cooperation between the countries of Central Asia, and integration of the region into global economic and transport ties.

Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan commented on the outcome of the International Conference on the Implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy in Central Asia, which took place in March 2022 in Tashkent with the support of the UN Secretary General.

- Taking into account the outcomes of the Forum, we propose to establish the UN Counter-Terrorism Regional Office in Central Asia in order to successfully implement the Global Strategy and continuously monitor the implementation of the updated Joint Action Plan, - said Vladimir Norov.
